Dr. Mandy Meyk, Founder

Dr. Mandy Meyk is a highly accomplished mental health professional passionate about helping both human and dog patients achieve optimal health and wellness. She has studied at Harvard Medical Center, the University Di Torino, Liberty University, and the University of Arkansas. Dr. Meyk holds Bachelor degrees in Microbiology (Animal Sciences) and Clinical Psychology, a Masters Degree as a Licensed Practicing Counselor, and a Psyc.D. in Mental Health Clinic Development. She is certified by TAAB and The CCS. Known for her compassionate bedside manner, Dr. Meyk excels in the latest behavioral treatments and technologies. She founded The Gentle Ways in 2002 and is highly respected by peers and patients alike. In her spare time, she enjoys walking with her rehabilitated Great Danes and a blind Shar Pei.

Maggie Meyk, Head Trainer

After diagnosis and consultation with Dr. Mandy, Maggie Meyk is the hinge point in your dog's behavioral care plan. She is Dr. Mandy's daughter and has grown up using The Gentle Way methodology. Maggie is a Calm Canine trainer who is certified in working with all different types of animal behavior disorders. She is pursuing her degrees in psychology to become a specialized child psychologist. Maggie works with all different types of animals, ranging from horses to cats, hedgehogs, and exotic pets. She is an avid equestrian with our therapy horse, Pecos.

Kristen is a dedicated and compassionate individual serving as an essential support staff member at The Gentle Ways, where she is committed to animal-assisted therapy and healing practices. Her role involves providing crucial support in coordinating therapy sessions, ensuring the smooth operation of programs, and fostering a nurturing environment for both animals and clients. Her husband, Tracy, is a military veteran with a remarkable background and a deep passion for advocating the benefits of animal-assisted therapy. With a history of service to his country, Tracy found solace and healing through his therapy dog, Honey, leading him to champion the cause of supporting others through similar experiences.

David Martin is a dedicated professional with a profound knack for grant writing, coupled with an unwavering devotion to the welfare of animals. With a career spanning over a decade, he has honed his skills in securing funding for various initiatives, showcasing an exceptional ability to articulate compelling proposals that resonate with potential donors. David enjoys spending time with his rescue cat, Marshal Marshmallow in free time.
